The Truth is Out There

I would say that Descartes ‘inhabits’ Chris Carter, the man behind the show The X-Files. It may be a fictional television show for entertainment but it addresses real ideas that people have about the unexplained. The show was on for 10 seasons and was about a special unit in the FBI that was called in when things happened that couldn’t be explained. Everything from ghosts and spirits to aliens and monsters were covered. The show basically is about putting reason and truth into things that cannot be explained. Even in all this, there is still the presence of ‘god’ in the show as an explanation for many of the cases. We as humans always have to find the answer to things and be able to explain them and if we can’t, a lot of the times the explanations end up being explained by ‘god’. Maybe the fact that we have to explain everything and if we can’t we give it an explanation of ‘god’ because in fact reason is the center of all knowledge and this is our way of giving everything reason.
